Be there for Rider students in times of need
While scholarship support is critical for many of our students to attend Rider, some students have additional outstanding expenses not covered by their scholarships. Even when working, many students find it difficult to both cover their expenses and pay for college. At Rider, 26% of students fall within low-income guidelines, demonstrating a substantial number of students with limited financial resources.
to any of the Rider student need funds listed here can allow students to focus on their education and not worry about how they will pay for books or other college-related expenses.
- Book Award Funds: Critical to a student鈥檚 success is having the necessary supplies. While Rider鈥檚 bookstore provides many services to make books less expensive such as offering used books, rentals, and Open Education Resources, they are sometimes still unaffordable to our students with the greatest needs. Several book funds assist students to ensure they have access to necessary textbooks.
- Emergency Loan Funds: Rider鈥檚 emergency loan funds are used to assist students who have special needs or encounter unexpected circumstances. When awards are made, recipients are expected to pay the funds back when their financial circumstances permit. This repayment strengthens the funds and ensures future students can also benefit.
- The Student Resource Pantry: Hunger and food insecurity are realities everywhere--even on college campuses. The pantry at Rider provides access to dry goods, toiletries, outerwear, laundry supplies, and bedding. Monetary contributions provide much needed support for pantry provisions.
- Internship Stipend Funds: Internships are a vital component of Rider鈥檚 Engaged Learning Program but in certain industries they are sometimes unpaid, including the nonprofit sector. This prevents students with the greatest financial need from accessing an integral part of their education. Supporting Rider internship stipend funds eases the financial burden unpaid internships present our students.
